Senior Scientist – Pharma – Solubilization

We are seeking a professional like you to join our Nutrition and Health division, supporting our Technical Management team.

The Global Technical Marketing Group is a dynamic, customer-focused, fast-paced, technical support center that develops knowledge and information about our excipients in order to support the development of drug formulations in all regions of the world.  Our projects and initiatives support activities within the scope of Solubilization, Solid Oral Dosage Forms, Softgel Capsules, Parenteral Solutions, Topical Formulations, and Biopharma ingredients.  The group is responsible for cross-functional engagement through strategic customer support, academic collaborators, consultants, regular coordination with our regional technical service and sales teams, regional laboratories, and numerous other disciplines and groups within the organization.  This ensures that we are providing the highest quality of information to the pharmaceutical industry.

Duties:

• Developing technical knowledge regarding drug-excipient structure-property-process-performance relationships within the area of active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) solubilization (improving bioavailability of poorly water-soluble drugs) to support and grow the global excipients business
• Selecting, communicating, and recommending portfolio options for desired solubility enhancement strategies
• Designing and processing formulations to enhance solubility of APIs through a range of application processes, such as extrusion, granulation, spray drying, fluid bed coating, lyophilization, and sterilization
• Using DOE and QbD to plan and execute case studies projects that support end use of company excipients in applications of solubilization, supersaturation, crystallization, inhibition, and storage stabilization
• Managing laboratory trials and generating application data to support the solubilization technical platform strategy. You will also conduct and participate in technical trainings to regional and global colleagues and support global customers in strategic business development
• Creating technical reports, articles, posters, journal publications, and marketing communications, as well as coordinating and attending global tradeshows (e.g., poster presentations, workshops and customer meetings)
• Engaging and aligning projects with global technical colleagues in NA, SQ, EU, AP, and supporting customer technical projects and activities for key global customers

Technical Qualifications:

• Have an in-depth understanding of pharmaceuticals and formulation
• M.S. or Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, Pharmacology, or Clinical Pharmacy
• At least 3 years of previous experience in pharmaceutical formulation related environment
• Skilled at development / lab scale production equipment such as tableting, granulation, blending, milling, spray drying, coasting, drying
• Strong communication and presentation skills
