Sr. Chemist

The Sr. Chemist will have the following responsibilities:

  • Develop, support and database record, adhesive compositions for the industrial MMA market
  • Design highly focused and data-driven new product development projects that yield high valued differentiated products. This consists clearly identifying project goals within a stage-gate process, establishing a test strategy, conducting laboratory evaluations and issuing final comprehensive reports
  • Coordinate and work with all internal departments on the technology transfer for commercialization to scale-up, and determine the appropriate design and product specifications to maximize ease of manufacturing and technical literature
  • Responsible to keep up with the environmental and global standard changes for chemicals, maintain a knowledge bank of raw materials and manufacturers for use to develop and maintain present and future needs
  • Manage multiple projects/tasks independently and in a team and fully utilize analytical laboratory equipment
  • When necessary, manage the daily activities of a research lab technician(s)
  • Manage project work load and schedule to effectively minimize distraction and shorten the commercialization process
  • Assist in training / direction of new personnel and distributor reps
  • Stay abreast of and respond to the changing landscapes in market needs, raw materials and technological advances in the field
  • Perform and delegate daily functions as required to provide the highest level of technical assistance and customer satisfaction
  • Maintain an electronic database to record all material, incoming samples materials and development notebook data
  • Work in and be sensitive to global diverse employees and customer environments as part of representing company in customer calls and virtual or direct joint research projects
  • Promote, support and adhere to all safety, environmental and quality related policies and procedures

Requirements:

  • MS/PhD in Organic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science or Polymer Engineering or Equivalent. Advanced Degree Preferred
  • 7-10 years of experience as a Chemist in a product development and manufacturing support with a strong emphasis in MMA
  • Must be a practical, hands-on scientist with good lab technique and problem-solving ability
  • Strong computer, organizational, and destructive and mechanical testing skills are required.
  • Fluency with Word, Excel, Act, Access, and JD Edwards is essential
  • Must have strong communication, organizational, analytical and investigative skills
  • Must be able to travel occasionally
