Sr. Chemist

The Sr. Chemist will conduct research, analysis, synthesis, and experimentation on substances to develop new products, new technology development, new manufacturing technology development and production improvement.

  • Proactively advance R&D project(s) and suggest, initiate or propose product designs which will meet the quality standards in the customer’s requirements and the process design to create the newly developed product
  • Fully responsible for the completion of the R&D project within original due dates, by clarifying problems, suggesting countermeasures and managing the project timeline
  • To contribute to the company by creating new value for the customer with new products and technology development and production improvement
  • Working with company’s sales and Business Development team, understand the required properties or application of the project, clearly define the value differences between new item and competitive item; calculate profitability of new item
  • Fully responsible for planning and leading complex projects; understand all background information, clarify problems in the R&D process, suggest countermeasures, develop project timeline and complete the project within the original timeframe
  • Perform job responsibilities in compliance with Quality management system
  • Direct the work of R&D technician(s); supervisory responsibility may be assigned
  • Through lab work, develop and suggest new product(s) which can meet the customer’s requirements. Performing, new raw material study(s) and creating new measurement method(s) may be required
  • In the process design, develop and suggest the manufacturing process, optimize process conditions and verify productivity
  • Responsible for researching of new developing item, filing patent application, and managing all documentation requirements
  • Develop and prepare quality control documents (standards and specifications) and safety operation manual for the manufacturing / production process
  • Issue technical reports based on R&D study and present to customers
  • Conduct research of new raw material, new technical trend, new market trend, patent information to increase product value
  • Take leadership and initiative for interface of cross functional groups, strive to get new business opportunities for open, fair discussion
  • Act as a role model for R&D team; be a technical mentor for R&D Manufacturing technical team. Provide technical support to all team members

Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree plus a minimum of 5 years working experience in a manufacturing company or Bachelor’s Degree from four-year college or university in chemistry, plus minimum of 5-8 years working experience as an R&D chemist in manufacturing company which focuses on polymer science, adhesive technology, rubber material science or epoxy resin technology; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Scientific basic knowledge: Basic Chemistry (Organic material, Inorganic material, Polymer material), Basic physics (Polymer physics, Rheology Phenomenology), Analytical Chemistry
  • Requires a good understanding and being capable of operating needed test equipment
  • Able to design, plan and execute experiments based upon scientific methods
  • Detail oriented; well organized
  • Strong verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally if needed
