JOB SUMMARY:

The person obtaining this position will be responsible for the development of innovative technologies using theory and mechanism driving to an applicable solution. Critical to success will be the ability to work across the organization and directly with business units to deliver solutions including identifying problem root cause, solution demonstration, and effective communication to accomplish implementation. The role will focus on the intrinsic chemical reactions and interactions that occur within company’s additive systems. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to build structure activity relations in highly complex systems which are consistent with first principles. Furthermore, the ideal candidate will have the ability to develop techniques and experiments to uniquely probe the underlying chemistry of additive components and formulations address challenging problems. Expertise in one or more areas highly applicable to company’s core technologies such as thermodynamics, kinetics, oxidative and thermal degradation, interfacial, micelle, or non-covalent interactions is critical. •  Evaluating the physical-chemical fluid properties driving test performance and identifying solutions based on derived performance models.

•  Utilizing component interactions within a formulation to drive performance to optimums (ascertaining synergistic and antagonistic interactions).

•  Developing methods for controlling additive solution structure (e.g. micelles), equilibria, or reaction kinetics in order to deliver desired performance at the right time/conditions.

•  Developing and implementing methods for assessing package or component stability or assessing and quantitating fluid degradation pathways.

•  Identifying and developing new components to meet specific needs consistent with Technology Development and company’s Long-Range Plans.
