Sr. R&D Scientist (Organic Peroxide Process Chemist)

Based in company’s Corporate Offices and R&D Center, the Sr. R&D Scientist provides technical and safety leadership in the area of process chemistry to support the organic peroxides manufacturing business and plants.  Occasional travel will be expected.  Specific job activities include:

  • Fully engage and participate in company’s departmental and site wide safety programs and ensures safe laboratory operation, supporting a culture of continuous safety improvement
  • Work closely with internal customers, project teams and lab colleagues to solve technical problems
  • Develop functional solutions to complex manufacturing processes utilizing laboratory and pilot facilities
  • Scale-up and install processes in manufacturing plants in collaboration with engineering and plant personnel
  • Analyze complex analytical issues in collaboration with QC personnel and develop the necessary experimental programs to provide solutions
  • Collaborate with process engineers and manufacturing plant engineers to optimize industrial processes
  • Contribute to the innovation culture at company by exhibiting curiosity, entrepreneurial spirit, and collaboration with others to constantly improve their methods and products

Requirements:

  • PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related technical discipline
  • 10+ years of industrial experience as a process chemist
  • Background in synthetic chemistry (preferably organic) and industrial process development
  • Understanding of chemical engineering principles, process development and optimization
  • Knowledge of analytical chemistry and understanding of plant operations
  • Chemical systems modeling experience utilizing complex datasets a plus
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a track record of collaboration and teamwork
  • Self-starting ability with exceptional time and project management skills
  • Demonstrated multitasking capabilities
