Sr. Scientist
The Sr. Scientist performs a wide variety of technical tasks in support of specific new or existing products, working in conjunction with R&D and Manufacturing partners. These tasks are highly specific and usually require the use of quantitative methods and the application of technical judgment to assist in the development and commercialization of new products or to troubleshoot problems with existing manufacturing, formulation, or other technical issues. Project management role is to keep new launches on track.
Responsibilities:
Development Management: Project and team leadership of developers to create, manufacture, and launch new innovation projects. Work cross functionally to support product development. Project Management. Work as part of cross-departmental international team. Manage with suppliers to manage product development, scale up, and optimization of products. Work directly with developers to optimize product development output. Operate against pre-determined timelines and goals to successfully meet corporate objectives.
Process Development:
Assist in managing scale ups, manufacturing changes, and other on site at the manufacturer Define, create, and implement targets for reproducibility of manufacture
Attend / Support trials for new products
Work against COGs budget to find savings in formulation, manufacturing, and process
Troubleshoot lab to plant issues, make suggestions for improvement
Travels to suppliers to conduct audits, development, and testing. Participate in planning, monitoring and documenting plant trials for successful commercialization of new products
Keep accurate records of lab work, documentation of ingredients used, and formulation modifications
Product Development:
Develop and formulate to meet pre-determined goals. Enter value data into database that contains all applicable information of raw ingredients, blends, and formulas that go into products. Verifies label accuracy for all products, existing and new. Critically evaluates food products to help determine palatability, consumer appeal, and functionality. Evaluate new ingredients and new suppliers. Create new processes and products to enhance IP portfolio

Salary
$110,000
Job Requirements
Job Requirements:
BS or MS in Food Science or Nutritional Field. Co-Manufacturing experience is a plus. Direct experience with bars and baked goods a plus but not required. What is a requirement is a background in commercialization and innovations projects from lab through full scale manufacturing support. 3-10 years’ experience in Food Science or related field
Good interpersonal skills
Knowledge of commonly used lab instruments (e.g., balance/scales, calipers, etc.)
Familiarity with basic statistical tests
Must have the ability to work cross functionally, build relationships and excel in a team environment
