Synthesis Chemist of Starch Based Products

The Water Treatment Division is an industry leader in natural water treatment solutions for the industrial waste water industries.  Looking for an experienced starch chemist who has the ability to design and synthesize starch-based products.

The right candidate will work with their experienced chemists and laboratory personnel to research, develop, test and perform quality control for all products.  The right individual will work with chemicals, chemical compounds and chemical processes to create new products and technologies.

The main responsibilities will include:

  • Conduct Research and Development of new products
  • Design, react and synthesize starch-based products
  • Develop and adjust product formulations to improve existing products, reduce cost, improve performance, or simplify manufacturing
  • Work with and assist full scale manufacturing processes as required
  • Test competitive products
  • Develop and validate test methods
  • Conduct research to develop new and improved manufacturing processes
  • Prepare samples for customers
  • Organize and maintain electronic and paper copies of information pertaining to the performed experiments including laboratory notebooks, research reports, and other documents
  • Develop and review reports, documents and presentations showing project processes
  • Operating, cleaning and calibrating all forms of laboratory and application equipment

Job Requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Bio-Chemistry
  • Synthesis of starch-based products is a requirement
  • 3-5 years’ experience in R&D work involving starch
  • Work effectively with MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook
  • Handle chemicals safely
  • Perform laboratory testing following prescribed procedures
  • Perform light duty work
  • Some travel may be required for R&D purposes <20%
