Technical Manager

This position will proactively support the business by initiating projects, generating data, and effectively communicating technical results; ability to directly interact with both internal and external stakeholders as necessary in support of team and leadership targets. It will be responsible for leading and developing a team of technical members across to develop solutions for the Health Care market segment, maintaining a safe and clean work environment.

The position will also support customer product development and/or technical service in collaboration with Sales and Marketing to achieve the Business Team objectives.

This position also works closely with our Process Chemists to scale up new products and trouble shoot production challenges.

  • Evaluates and resolves technical topics from design and planning to production and quality initiatives. Manages projects plans, budgets, reports and contributes to white papers and makes internal and external presentations. Accountable for all aspects of safely operating a technical area. Gathers and analyzes relevant performance data of own and competitive products.
  • Responsible to proactively lead and manage all aspects a small group of multi-cultural technical employees including hiring, performance reviews, training, developing, mentoring, etc. through a professional presence and high employee engagement.
  • By using a broad degree of creativity, support the implementation of product and marketing strategies for the business team that will lead to new product developments and applications. Drives development of technology roadmaps and product portfolios that positions company to be a leading player in the Health Care market segment.
  • Visit customers regularly to support sales with discovery process and presenting results. Actively lead customer needs and innovation meetings as well as researching the industry developments to identify new opportunities.
  • Manage the exchange of information and activities using best practice which includes but not limited to Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN), SAP, Excel, PPT, and Word). Document activities using Product Modification Activity (PMA), Project System Innovation (PSI) Charter Forms (PCF; ICF) and Opportunity Management with customer relationship tool (like SalesForce). Develop intellectual property related to new products and / or applications and drive for related patent filings.

Requirements:

  • MS Degree in Chemistry or a related field; PhD in Chemistry or related field preferred
  • Minimum 4 years with at least 3 years of these years in a supervisory role
  • Externally recognized as an industry expert – numerous conference and association presentations; publication of technical articles
  • Knowledgeable on leading edge technology and technology development processes
  • Experience / proven successes with product development and project management, showing leadership in proposing and develop ideas / solutions to expand our business
  • High understanding of safety requirements in a chemical laboratory setting
  • Energy, drive, positive outlook
