Technical Service Leader

Global industry leader is seeking an experienced Technical Service Leader for their Texas site!

Our Epoxy business has an exciting and challenging opportunity for a Technical Service Manager in our R&D / Technical Service laboratory which is comprised of premier researchers, application developers and technical service experts located around the world.  The Technical Service Manager is responsible for the growth of existing product sales; enabling new innovation sales via customer qualifications of new products; working with quality, manufacturing, and R&D teams in troubleshooting customer issues; and chartering new product development efforts with R&D in response to customer needs.  The incumbent will be responsible for technical service in the coatings and civil engineering market segments.

We are a leading global supplier of epoxy components and formulated systems and are looking for continuous growth in the area of coating and civil engineering global markets.  The Technical Service Manager, as part of the R&D and Technical Service & Development team, will be the technical interface between the Epoxy business and customers.  The incumbent will work for product development through an understanding of the complex customer unmet needs, defining qualification criteria and continuously working with the marketing and commercial team for strategy and commercialization implementation.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Interface directly with external customers and working as a team with Epoxy sales and marketing to understand application requirements necessary for success
  • Translate customer needs into key structure / property and mechanism knowledge for improved material development
  • Use developed understanding to help design new formulations for the coatings and civil engineering market
  • Collaborate across functions / groups as needed to drive project success
  • Internal and external communication of technologies and project results
  • Secure intellectual property on key technologies and compositions
  • Work externally to advance our Epoxy’s reputation as a leading science and technology company in the Epoxy coating and civil engineering industries

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science / Engineering, Material Science, or related fields. Master’s Degree or PhD preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of related industrial work experience; experience in R&D, application development, product implementation and customer product testing preferred
  • Ability to multitask and balance competing priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to travel 30% of the time. Must possess a valid US driver’s license
