UV Chemist

The main purpose of this position is to develop, modify and/or improve coatings for automotive and non-automotive applications.  This includes but is not limited to primers, basecoats, topcoats, and clearcoats.

Job Requirements

Technical Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Master degree in chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related science discipline with at least two intermediate to advanced chemistry laboratory courses or laboratory research experience
  • 2+ years coatings experience, paint formulation experience preferred
  • UV coatings and radiation cure experience preferred
  • Spray-paint line application experience preferred
  • Ability to solve problems on coatings projects and issues, adequately communicate status with supervisor
  • Ability to pass Ishihara Test for Color Deficiency
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Utilization of design of experimentation approach (DOE)
  • Ability to document, report, present, and interpret findings as well as design follow-up experiments for results
  • Ability to concentrate on details and work independently
  • Ability to learn and apply technical concepts quickly
  • Knowledge / understanding of general chemical principles / properties
  • Ability to apply basic statistical techniques
  • Excellent computer skills
