UV Ink Chemist

The UV Ink Chemist will have the following responsibilities:

*Independently formulates and tests products for market segments served by energy curable products, products include formulated inks and coatings

*This individual must also possess and promote an understanding of product design-performance interrelationships, including the chemistry, engineering and physics of formulated products.  Solutions need to be practical, thorough, imaginative and data-driven

*This role requires 5-10% travel

*Design of formulated inks and coatings for maximum performance at minimum cost

*Preparation of lab-scale formulations for short-and long-term platforms and product development

*Scientific analysis of new product formulations

*Short-term troubleshooting to address customer complaints, as well as performance refinement needs

*Project Management, including business support, core maintenance and product development

*Support and promotion of company's quality and continuous improvement culture, e.G., ISO, Six Sigma, DfSS

*Serves as a technical interface for product scale-up, as well as customer and vendor meetings and pilot trials

*Accountable for good housekeeping and proper safety procedures in accordance to company standards

*Documents work in laboratory notebook and manages projects in the Global Product Management (GPM) portal

*Helps establish product / project attributes which are Critical to Quality (CTS's)

*Writes technical reports

*Acquires formulating knowledge and skills with regard to raw materials, materials processing and product performance requirements required to reduce to practice formulations that meet project CTQs

*Provides technical expertise / assistance to Technology and Product Management

*May train others

*Initiates and administers codes

*Interacts with Gatekeepers (Product Management, Technical, Sales, Purchasing, Manufacturing, etc.) to set project goals and direction

*Monitors trials and pilot plant runs

*5-10% travel

Requirements:

*BS in Chemistry or a suitable science-related field

*5+ years of Energy Curable experience

*Methodical experimenter

*Motivated to learn new concepts, techniques and practices

*Ability to work successfully in a cross-functional team

*Excellent analytical / problem solving skills

*Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

*Proven ability to deliver results on time
